The Attraction of Opposites : Magazine Monday

How was your week?  Junky I hope!  Junk Hunk Hubby & I went on a day trip Saturday: one flea market & one vintage store; I can’t wait to show/tell you all about it!
Today, Magazine Monday is … brace yourself … non-junk.  It’s about your home, which is truly our nest.  I do like to incorporate junk in my decorating but there are other fun parts too.  So I want you to think outside the box, explore these ideas here & see what cheerful things you can add to your home:

It was love at first sight: the cover of the September 2016 issue of Romantic Homes.  Now this is where you can get tremendous ideas of decorating your home with lots of different styles.  Remember the word romantic here so you’re not going to find art deco, but you are going to find farmhouse, cottage, shabby, French, retro & everything in between.
The article:  The Attraction of Opposites is a warm & welcoming style but the owner of the home {and her shop that lives on the first floor}, Tina van Noord.  She has coined her style: Robust Vintage: and that’s the perfect description!  Tina said, “When she first found the charismatic urban home it was in need to lots of work but she saw the possibilities.” Nine years later it is she and hubby’s home that shines after oodles of completed restoration projects.
After becoming an empty-nester she turning her passion of children’s bedroom accessories into a business.  LilaBlu is the shop housed in one of three rooms on the ground floor where she combines unique combinations of recycled & vintage embellishments.  She has an instinct for seeing contrast and contradiction, mixing delicate with sturdy, large next to small & dark against light.
I see bits of my Grandmas’ styles in these pages.  There are layers of vintage & new fabrics, hand-made pillows  and old fashioned roses in different vessels sprinkled about. It’s easy to see how a huge wooden cabinet mixes easily with a metal table & chairs, add in a glass bottle that doubles as a vase & cozy fabrics of chenille, calico & cotton entice you to stay awhile.
Here’s a sneak peak to some pictures & if you see this issue on the newsstand or at the check-out be sure & grab it!
Happy Vintage Decor Junkers!

The September 2016 Issue
Article starting on page 54, but don’t forget the rest of the wonderful eye candy on the other pages too!
Mixing & matching & it all works!
Can’t you just smell that faint scent of these classic roses?
Settle in for a cozy nap or choose a book or two…
These vintage linens sure take me back to sleeping over with my Grandparents!
A spot of tea, little sparkles of candle flickers & chippy metal….it works.

What combinations do you use in your home decor?  Share with us, Junkers!
